After the 'so far so good' comment, we woke up on Monday morning to find that there was a problem with the steering on the car - every time you tried to turn the wheel, it slammed back to the left! On the plus side, we discovered that the apparently new tyres we bought in Fernie were worn down the the wire, if we didn't have the problem with the steering we wouldn't have noticed and it could have been a disaster! So we walked to a garage, got some steering fluid then Jack attempted to drive the car to the garage, and made it with no problems. It didn't take too long to sort out and so with new tyres and the ability to steer the car we got on our way to head for Vegas!
The drive was good, the snow disappeared and it was really cool when we crossed the border to Arizona the rocks were pretty impressive although we were only in Arizona for 20 minutes before crossing over into Nevada. The drive took only about 3 hours, and before we knew it we were there. We found the hotel easily and got ourselves checked in. The hotel is great, all you can ask for for only $20 a night! We got settled in then went downstairs to the casino to redeem our $100 each of slots money (neither of us won anything, surprise surprise!), got our free chicken wings, and also a re-useable coffee mug and you can help yourself to as much coffee as you want during your stay which is cool. We took a walk to the strip that night, all the lights are amazing, and some of the hotels are stunning. We visited a couple of casino's and left with more money than we arrived, cha ching! The games we played were Casino War, which is basically you get a card, the dealer gets a card, highest card wins... so easy to win and to lose, luckily we did more winning than losing! We also played the wheel of fortune, which we won on too.
The next day we went to New York New York, which has a made up new york street inside, and a roller coaster, which we went on. When we were about to go on, Jack took a picture and we were asked to put his camera in the locker, even though I had a zip pocket to put it in, so Jack being Jack walked over to the locker, rattled it then put it in his pocket anyway! The roller coaster was good, but a bit rickety, you can see some nice views of the city from upside down!!
We visited the big hotels which are amazing inside, the Bellagio, Caesers Palace, Cosmopolitan, the Venetian, Circus Circus and a lot more! When we were in Circus Circus we saw a trapeze show which was really impressive.
We got back to the hotel that night about midnight and decided to have a go at some tables. Jack played roulette and I played Blackjack, it was so much fun! You get to talk to lots of people at the table, and I learned lots of tips. I eventually left the table at 4.00am, with $60 profit in my pocket, Jack left at 5.00am with $9 profit - it was definately time to leave since they bring you free drinks when you are playing at the tables - Jack had 6 white russians!! So the next day we slept in, then went for a last walk on the strip, got some dinner and now we are back at the hotel.
Vegas has been awesome, but 3 nights is definately enough, otherwise I think it could be dangerous! Tomorrow we are heading off early to try and get lots of driving in, as it is another 9 and a half hours to San Francisco. We are probably going to stop somewhere between here and there, but will see how it goes if we can do it in one go, we're really excited to get there!
Going to put up some pics, will update from San Fran!
