So, we are in Prague at the moment - just arrived this afternoon.
We left Budapest for Bratislava and arrived there at 4.00pm. The hostel we were staying in was excellent, and we met an English couple there. They were Liverpool fans, so we spent the night at the pub watching the football... we did see the city by night aswell though!!
Bratislava is very nice, but a lot smaller than I thought it would be. It's also not as 'old' as I thought it would be, it was quite modernised - but very cheap! Really just walking around - there's a castle aswell, but we've seen lots of castles... We spent two nights there, and decided (even though it wasn't on our plan of places to go, we had heard so much about it from people we met) to go to Krakow in Poland. We definately made a good decision.
Krakow is lovely - it has the largest medieval square in Europe - which was untouched by the war, so its pretty impressive. We visited the lake which used to be an old quarry which is just south of the city. It is surrounded by high cliffs (to Jack's disgust, he had to do yet more climbing) but we got a good view of the city.
We went to Auchwitz, the Nazi Concentration Camp. It was pretty emotional there - to actually stand in a gas chamber where millions of people lost their lives was pretty creepy. The places where they were kept if they weren't killed straight away were horrendous aswell. It was a hot day, but i had chills walking in there. There are rooms there that are piled high with shoes, suitcases and personal belongings that were found there - literally thousands upon thousands of belongings. It puts into perspective the amount of lives that were lost.
So, apart from a full on day there, Krakow is very enjoyable! The hostel was great, there were lots of nice people there, and we could've stayed longer if we'd had time.
So today we arrived in Prague, we haven't seen much of it yet, pretty tired from the journey again, but we're staying 2 nights so we'll see everything tomorrow.
On Wednesday we plan to go to Berlin for 2 nights, then back to Amsterdam where we are flying to KL on Sunday - a nice island to walk around rather than a big city will be welcome for our feet!!
Hope everyone is well
