The overnight bus was not too bad actually, but with about 70km to go, we had to get off the bus for half an hour while they refuelled... we got to San Pedro at about 9am, it is a really small, dusty desert town, and the hostel was pretty much a little shack, but it was cool! That day us and the Irish couple went on a valley of the moon tour, it was some pretty stunning scenery, lots of rocks, salt flats, and desert. We had only booked one night there and unfortunately had to leave the next day, otherwise we would have stayed a little longer as there were lots of things to see. We took a bus at 10am back to Argentina, to Salta, where we spent another couple of nights. Salta was ok, just a big city in the north of Argentina, and as we werent doing any excursions there wasnt a lot here either. We took a 21 hour bus journey from Salta on Tuesday, but decided to do it first class, and boy are we glad we did! You had your own suite on the bus, with a personal dvd player with lots of movies to choose from. We got served up a hot dinner with beer, then got some snacks at about 5, then we stopped at 9, got off the bus, went for a 3 course meal (all paid for!), back on the bus, more movies and then fully reclining seats that made a bed. We arrived in Buenos Aires at 7am on the Wednesday, still a little tired, but more comfortable than the other buses we had been on!
