Just realised the last time I jumped on this thing was in Melbourne which seems ages ago! Its all been a bit of a blur since but we've somehow managed to go to four countries in Asia in the meantime. I'll do my best to remember whats happened without making it too boring...
Here goes... After what seemed forever we left Melbourne to the contrasting heat and humidity of Singapore. We immediately feel in love with the city and spent our three days there exploring the place in more depth, taking hundreds of photos and of course sweating a lot! Surprise, surprise, my memory card in my camera decided to break soon after all these 'amazing' photos were taken so i'm having some difficulty finding half of them at the moment!
From Singapore we boarded the SLOWEST train in the world up to Kuala Lumpar in Malaysia. We spent a further three days here and although it was not as spectacular as Singapore, KL did the coolest hostel in the world Reggae Mansion which was more like a 5star hotel than a hostel. The highlight of KL was going up the Petronas Towers, the highest twin towers in the world and the view from the top was pretty awesome.
After doing our bit of culture for a few days it was time to get back on the beers again! There was no bettter place to do so in Bangkok and no better time to do so than meeting up with Reilly again, as well as Caitlin and Sam. Our first night in Bangkok was large to say the least but we all managed to find our way back to the hostel in the early hours.
The next day we headed North to Chang Mai on a 17hr train. We managed to stomach some early beers to make the journey more bareable but upon arrival at 6am the next day we were all feeling pretty rough! After some much needed sleep me Caitlin and Sam decided to tear up the Chang Mai roads with some extremley dangerous cycling! The locals seemed to love it however and we had a good laugh as well! After more cycling with the others the next day as well as massages and a bit of swimming it was time to head further north to the town of Pai.
We spent a decent amount of time in Pai and hired cars out so local expert Reilly could show us around a bit better. We went to waterfalls, hot pools and canyons as well as trekking on elephants. There was also a fair bit of drinking in the evenings as well. Think its safe to say we all loved Pai and it was an amazing four/five days!
From Pai, we've been back through Bangkok in order to reach Cambodia. Although unfortunately along the way all of us apart from Caitlin (lucky girl) have been ill at somepoint :( In Cambodia we visited Angkor Wat temple as well as loads of surrounding temples and saw the tree out of Lara Croft. Reilly and Jimmy have left us along the way but we are now in the capital of Cambodia - Phnom Penh. Today we went to the S21 prison and killing fields to learn a bit about the devesation of the Khmer Rouge regime during the 70s. Shockingly horrific stuff which definitely has had an affect on all of us.
We head down to Sinukaville tomorrow for a week of sunbathing and relaxing before meeting all of the girls on the islands which is really exciting! Hope everyone is good at home, not long at all now till we see you!!!!!!!!xx
