After the longest journey of my life, I finally touched down in KK at about 8:30, and it is amazing! I got a taxi to the hotel and the driver was one of the nicest people I have ever met, full of advice and recommendations for my stay. He dropped me off at the hostel with good wishes for my trip. From first impressions, I fell in love with Borneo Backpackers! The place was lively with music from its downstairs bar, spilling out onto the road, and Edith, the girl on reception, was so kind and welcoming. She showed me all round the hostel, from its insane rooftop terrace, to its lazy area where the cat likes to hang out! I love my room too, and was quick to dump my stuff before coming back down to the bar for food and some much needed drinks. Two more staff were keen to introduce themselves, one of whom, Donny, picked out some food and a cocktail for me, which were both amazing! The food was some crazy toastie full of pineapple, cinnamon, cheese and the most amazing mango. It came with some incredible 'crisps meets chips' combo, which I could quite happily eat for the rest of my stay. Edith then came and sat with me for quite a while and I think she's keen to go out with me on her next day off. She loves to run though which I'm not too sure about....! Donny has kept the cocktails flowing all evening too so now with a full belly and fuzzy head I am ready for bed!
