Well we are just back from our three days trekking, it was absolutely amazing. Our group was formed by 7 people: Jessica, Mark, Laurence, Ulf and Paul. We got to the fisrt stop and started walking up the mountain until we reached the village. There were onmy about 6-7 huts (i wouldn t call them houses!!) and only one max two rooms in each of them, The tribe was gather together to celebrate a funeral, they all were drinking and eating som pork soaked in its own blood...Our guide was a thai guy, really funny and he explained a bit about these group and their tradition. After that we went back to the car and went to the next stop. We climbed the mountain again and stopped for our lunch by a waterfall, where we could swim as well, really cool, and after that the long walk was awaiting us, around 4 hours trekking in the forest, jungle i don't know but it was really hard, everytime I hoped we got to the top but it never was, holy Buddha!!! Anyway around 17:00 we finally got there, in another village, the karen tribe. It was again formed by few houses, we went to visit the school and the guys cooked for us. After dinner they lit a bunfire and the kids came over and sang for us. Absolutely fantastic. They expected us to sing for them too and the only song we could come up with was Old Mc Donald had a farm..so embarrassing!!! When it was time for them to sleep we stayed up to sing some more song with Sonny the younger guide who was playing the guitar. Brian overtook his shyness and sang a song all by himself, so proud of him!! The fire little by little died away and electricity there is not an option!!!So sleepy for us too sharing one of the huts.
The next day we didn t really do much, lots of trekking and we stopped for lunch in another little village. One of the elderly came ver and played a strange instrument, we tryed as well but with scarce results... Also Paul came over at the table with a huge scrabble, so cool!!! Off we went again to another waterfall, this one much bigger than the first one and we swam here again. Then we walked for 5 mins to reach our place for the night. This time we all had our own bungalow. We played Genga to kill the time while waiting for dinnerand after been fed we played cards with the thai guys, so funny!!! Whoever whon had to slide his finger on a very black, dirty pot and paint the face of whoever lost, we ended up black like africans!!
And finally the last day we went elephant trekking, our one was always hungry and looking for babanas, they were huge, we even walked in the river. And finally... Bamboo rafting. I though it was going to be more exciting but it wasn't bad. That was the end of our three days trekking, and to top it up we met up with the guys for dinner and few drinks in the evening... and bye bye thailand for a while!!!!!
