Day 6...... Mykonos!!!!!
Woke up this morning to see that we were just arriving in Mykonos...white buildings everywhere scattered all over the hill sides. We arrived in port about 6.30am. Lots of yachts also in the port including a couple of huge ones. And there was also another cruise ship in port - Costa Mediterranea, which would make for a busy day on shore.
After breakfast we made our way to the shuttle bus on shore for the short journey to the town....Hora...which took just a few minutes.
It was a very windy day... Not sure if it is always so windy there, but it wouldn't surprise me if that would be the case. All the buildings were soooo white! And very bright! And of course with mainly blue windows and doors! Heaps of tourists everywhere which we expected, but it sort of took the shine off the place somehow, just too busy and too many souvenir places I think. We wandered around the streets, which were very clean but also very sparse, hardly any flowers or plants anywhere. Just more and more white. And lots of churches ( also white, but very cute and most of them very tiny). We stopped for a gelato and coffee at the waterfront and used their free wifi, which was not all that good but we have not had any phone service since we left Italy and the ship's wifi does not update very well either. A bit hit and miss sometimes. Got a few messages across and uploaded the blog though. Facebook is hard to get on the ship as well.
We then went to the beach for a swim, along with heaps of others from the two ships. Still very windy so not an ideal beach day as you would get pretty sandblasted at times! The water was very clear though but also very cold which surprised us.
Came back on board and had a couple of cocktails near the pool as we sailed away again. Very relaxing!!! After another lovely dinner we went down to the lounge and saw a comedian there who was very funny. But no good dance music to be found tonight, and a few of the upstairs bars were closed due to the windy weather so back to the room about midnight.
