I'm not sure of the sequence of emotional charge the terms tour, trek, tramp, traipse and trudge run in, but he last few meters to breakfast were a trudge! I'm sure my legs will be damaged for days!
After our well-earned breakfast the tour continued in earnest with Andean Condor spotting. We were lucky to arrive moments before 3 condors glided silently underneath use, hugging the cliff face to ride the thermals. A few passes and they were well over our heads and off to the coast to look for carrion.
Condors circle directly above carrion to make sure it's really dead and foxes see the condors circling and head to the free meal.
Sarah took some great pictures that I'll upload in a few weeks ...
Next on stop Mala, a small town with a big white church and a market with pisco sour stalls, llama petting stands, eagle perches and a wedding in full flow in the church. Big plain white church on the outside, ornate, gilded wooden decoration within - a great contrast with the bright, bright sun and the dark of the church.
Next stop the natural springs for a bathe to soothe aching limbs and butts ... the first 30C pool felt very warm, but was a mere warm-up to the hottest pool kept at 41C. Jude thought this was too hot and found the middle pool of 37C more to his liking. None of us tried the pool at the edge if the river that mixed cold mountain melt water with the hot spring outflow.
A long drive back to Arequipa followed, interrupted by a political gathering in favour of Harry G, local mayoral candidate, on Arequipa's outskirts.
Back to the room and the hell of packing to fly to Cuzco at 7.30 am - another early start, fully self-inflicted, as most of them have been to date!
