So overnight train trip was an experience and great fun and quite comfortable for those under 6ft if on a top bunk - so for me.......!
Arrived in Chiang Mai at 9am and to hotel which is very good 3 star
Free day to walk the town so headed for the old town which is walled but bit of a disappointment inside the walls because there are no real heritage or conservation laws to protect any buildings other than temples so when they need major repairs they are just knocked down and replaced
Taxi van back to hotel
Sleep, swim, good internet then at 4pm off to a temple high up in he mountains overlooking Chiang Mai City which was in an amazing setting and we saw a Buddhist blessing ceremony
Then back to hotel to a night market for Thai dinner (great food again) then a "ladyboy" cabaret show (work that one out for yourselves!) with some interesting waiters or waitresses or.......?
Tomorrow head off towards the Laos border
