We got to reception at 1:30am ready to be collected. Although they didn't actually turn up untill 2:20am as they had been delayed. We got in a mini bus where we were then taken to the big coach that was to take us all the rest of the way.
When we got tonthe museum we had to go through security to get into the grounds, and jess almost got a pair of scissors taken off her! Instead they were give to our guide and put in a safe. We then met sheriff our guide properly. He was so friendly, referring to us all as 'my friends' the whole trip. Told us how he had a place on his heart for all of us! It was a bit cheesy.. But he was so lovely and enthusiastic the whole trip even when we got hungry and tired and didn't want to get off the nice air conditioned coach!
Sheriff was very knowledgable. Took us to all the interesting parts of the museum. It would have taken hours looking round ourselves. Also told us the stories behind lots of the exhibits. Which was facinating.
I loved seeing tutenkarmun's tomb cases and the covers that were around his body. Also his throne and head mask.
Jess and I both got sooo hungry as hadn't eaten any breakfast so stopped to get an ice lolly which gave me much needed sugar and coolness
After sone lunch in the hard rick cafe we went to a papyrus shop/museum. They showed us how it was made then we could look at artwork on papyrus that wad for sale. I bought a picture of the engraving on tutankarmuns throne showing him and his wife showing their love for each other by sharing sandels. :)
When we eventually got to the pyramids it was 50 degrees! We saw the three together and went inside the smallest one which was soooo hot and sweaty with no wind to cool us down
There were endless people trying to sell us souviners. But we were told to just ignore them which felt a bit mean!
In one if the tombs saw lots of hyrogliphics which were amazing to think that they had been there for 4500 years.
We saw the Sphynix which amazing structure. All carved from one bit of stone. It was massive! The nose was destroyed as an act of putting down the king, showing he wasnt worth much. And the stone from the pillars next to it were again all carved from one bit of stone that was brought there from 1500km away. Again all built 4500 years ago. Makes me think if there is anything in my lifetime that will last for that long. Probably not.
We were asked if we wanted to go in a purfume shop but everyone was too hot and tired so we all just headed home. Arriving back at about 1am. Long and hot day. But worth it!
