Having packed last night it meant that we could get up a little later thismorning at 9.30 for a 10am check out. We could have got a shuttle bus from the hostel but the man recommended that since we were in a two it would probably be the same price, if not cheaper, and a lot more relaxing to get a taxi so we did just that.
At the airport we had half an hour to kill so, as the start of the diet, we got some museli and yoghurt and a cup of tea for breakfast. Having checked in and got through security, Georgie succumbed to a banana bread from Pie Face AND a cake from another coffee shop!I did a little better and stuck to some sushi for lunch.
We got the JetStar flight JQ515 at 1.30pm to Melbourne, arriving at about 2.45pm. Georgie, having become obsessed with Steve Irwin having visited the Australia Zoo earlier on in the trip, was still hunting round bookshops in the airport to find the book written about him by his wife, but with no luck. So she settled for another biography and we spent most of the plane journey reading so it wasn't too painful.
The recommended bus at the other end was the FAPAS and, ususally 20 dollars each, we were told we could get it free all the way to Base in St Kilda if we rang the hostel up and got the code so that was a bargain!!
We arrived about 45 minutes later having driven all the way through the city and the plan was to unpack our stuff and have a really chilled evening. We have crammed so much into Sydney, and that all started with a hangover and a night bus so that was about a week we need to recover from! We showered then headed to Woolworths to do some food shopping (healthy of course).
Having chilled in our room a bit more, we headed down to the bar where the pub quiz was about to begin at 9pm. Georgie had also arranged for her friend Tim from Uni to come and meet us so we had a couple of drinks and unsucessfully came about last in the pub quiz. I also rang little Betty during this since its her 18thhhhh!!! Unbelievable!!
I was ready for bed at about 11.30 but I went back upstairs and we finally met our flatmates...6 German boys...typical. They were playing drinking games in the middle of the room so there was no way I was settling in a reading my book like a weirdo so I came back downstairs to catch up on my blog instead! Georgie went out with her friend but I was way too tired so I manned up and chatted to the boys for a bit before blocking their noise out with my iPod and falling asleep.
