Yesterday and today have been very wet and a bit cold in Dorset. Yesterday we decided to find an indoor activity, so we set off for the Tank Museum. It had a huge collection of Tanks from the first world war, all the way to tanks which are currently in use in Afganistan. Oliver and the younger children enjoyed running around the enormous machines. Matthew however became quite upset when he realized what the sole purpose of a tank is, and this has lead to some interesting questions and discussions about the nature of "goodies" and "baddies" in war.
Today we opted to brave the weather to go and play on the pebble beaches at Chesil Beach in Portland. The boys ran up and down the steep pebble dunes and threw rocks into the ocean. We ate lunch at The Cove House Inn and then set off for the Portland Bill (lighthouse).
