Global Adventure '06
Bom Dia,
that'll be all the portugese you're getting out of me, it's a ridiculous language, it makes no sense, the only good thing is I can pretend I'm spanish, because they know less spanish than I do, so I sound fluent.
I have perfected apparently a Spanish face so even if the language is not correct I come across as knowing more than i do. Which comes in very handy when you're trying to order lunch for 10 people.
Let me tell you bout the group we have met for this tour, there is Andy, the youngster from Bournemouth, Everitt, the Canadian, Gena and Andre the other Canadians. Then we have Geoff and Lesley the oz married couple, and they're younger more outgoing fellow countrymen Kent and Chris. But we also have Kay and Dominic, two guys from Germany. Bringing up the rear we have our tour guide (i use the word guide in the loosest possible way) Pablo from colombia, who spends alot of his time sleeping, leaving us to our own devices, which is better, and drinking lots of cerveza, he also seems to have a little south american boyfriend in every town we've been in. Hmmmm!! rumours are rife as you can imagine. Are we unwitting mules for a drug smuggling operation, or does he just have a boy in every port? Just recently another oz has joined us, Tea (tsunami). So including us that's 14. Very intimate!
We have travelled from Buenos Aires through Uruguay, and back into Argentina again, and now we find ourselves in Brasil. We even managed to cross the border into Paraguay for a minute. We went to the world's biggest Dam, guess what, it was f**kin massive, albeit very hard to tell the scale of it from close up, and it was pretty ugly. We have seen the Iguaçu falls from both sides and taken far too many pics of waterfalls, hence why I haven't put in many descriptions of waterfalls. We've also been on a horse trek which was great fun, the most sedate and relaxing afternoon so far. When I put some of claires photos online you'll see pete the gaucho, very handsome cowboy i made too. I was praise for my horsemanship albeit my horse did not want to go the last 100m down the lane to where we started the trek, and walked me through a tree. I needed a tow that last 100m it was very embarrassing, must be all the steak and beef I'm eating, making my arse fat. We've seen the san ignacio jesuit ruins which was a very cool place, it's a ruined template of what alot of the cities in Spanish South America are based around, all built around a central square in grids.
Well I could go on and on about the Iguaçu ey are beautiful amazing wow, words cn't describe how spectacular they are, if I never see another waterfall again, it won't matter. Sorry some of the pics are bit mixed up, but I've tried to sort them a little.
BAck to our group, they are all really great interesting people and we've had several really good nights out in various locations, Cba libra in Argentine Iguazu, buenos aires, we've been out and seen tango in montevideo. We've done loads in the last week and a half, we've stiil got so much to see. My birthday soon, so I'm very looking forward to that, it should be in Paraty, near rio, which almost spelkls party and is a very rich area. We are in Curitiba today and tomorrow we start early again to go to Sao Paoo, weher we are going to see one of the most important games in Sao PAolo football this year. Sao Paolo versus Corinthians. In one of the worlds bioggest stadiums, riots and all, can't wait it's gonna be fantastic. Sorry my typing is going to pot here, so, I'gonna stop, overnight buses do very little for me. But the spa and sauna at our hotel is now looking very inviting again. Put some of Claires pics on soon, me in more interesting scrapes on the dance floor. So much fun to be had.
Anyway, if I've forgotten anything I apologise but this should keep you going for a while. South America is great fun.
Lots and lots of love, to friends old and new,
Pedro y Clarita
