Cheating here, flying tonight and once I have some piccies I'll put them in, heee, omg argghhhh!!! Will arrive tomorrow evening in Singapore, best to all, Pete
4th Feb 2006 Right ok, to all of those observant ones you would have noticed that the red flashing dot was hovering over Ho Chi Minh city and not Singapore, this is my mistake I didn't know where singapore was, I do now. But still the red dot is not an exact science. It's absolutely fantastic, we've done so much in the short time we've been here, it has to be the best place we've been to. We fly off to Cairns tomorrow evening.
But to recap, we've visited Sentosa Island and swam in the Straits of Singapore, we've experienced the mouth of fortune, we've seen pink dolphins, a dugong, bats and butterflies and a cheeky magical animated 20ft monkey in the musical fountain light show and taken a return journey yes 2 trips in a cable car that launches itself from the edge off the 15th floor goes upto a height of 20 floors then back down the other side. The only thing below is the water channel that runs between Sentosa Island and mainland Singapore and on the way back it was quite breezy and the cable car was rocking quite alot. Scary moments.
Wow, it's so exciting we've had big grins constantly.
We've supped singapore slings (photos later) in Raffles hotel, and we're even coerced into having our photo taken with 3 lovely indian guys who either thought we were famous or they'd never seen europeans before.
So much to tell, we've eaten great food, strange food, drank from cocunuts and eaten from hawker stalls. Night time markets, blade runner springs to mind, Chinese new year. WOW!!! Dragons and very loud drums.
Apologies for the spelling I'm typing as quick as I can. I have 36 mins left but the speed this computa is working at. Flight was ok, jetlag not too bad but I've only slept 10 hrs in 3 days way hey. Hope to rectify that tonight.
Oh almost forgot this afternoon we both got tattoos at some cheap market vendor. You know the score, dirty infected needles, unhygenic surroundings.
Photos to follow when the swelling goes down.
There really is too much to tell here, but we both said we could live here. It's so vibrant and lush, and even though it's a bit overcast it's 32 degrees plus in the shade. Squat toilets though hmmmm, good exercise.
Okay gonna sort out some more photos now, more when we get to Oz. All the best Pete and Claire xx
