Today is Friday nite, and just having a chilled one catching up with photos and facebook!! This week has been another non stop week again, cant believe how quickly time is flying by. We are currently in Franz Josef by the glaciers and its been a luxury to stay here two nites!! R room looks like a bomb has hit it, as living out of a pack is really tiring. Washing has been done tonite thank goodness. Currently walking around in a denim skirt and winter jacket as a result!! So today has been another amazing day. Glacier hiking up Franz Josef glaciers. I thoroughly recommend it to EVERYONE!! So cool. Slightly dangerous at times, and advisable to concentrate at all times! We had to wear spikes on our boots to climb through the ice. Also equipped with ice picks to help us through the tricky parts. The fun bits were going throught the small cravasses one foot first because it was so narrow! The scariest bit was a tiny narrow cave challenge which, of course i had to do!! At one point i didnt think i was going to make it as my hips were locked in the width of the cave and i had no where to go. With determination and a push from behind, and a hand up from the guide, i made it!! Amazing achievement!!
Yesterday the adrenalin rush took me up in a plane 12,000 feet to do the Franz Josef sky dive!! Tandem with 45 seconds freefall. Slightly hungover from the night befores events, the excitement took a while to set it. THe views over the glacier were magnificent!! The dive wasnt a total success as i ended up experiencing 'sensory overload' where i breathed through my mouth not my nose and the air pressure meant i couldnt breathe properly. This added to the experience somewhat, freefalling and thinking that my lungs were gonna collapse was definately gave me some form of 'fear' factor!! Oh well, ill just have to do it again to perfect it!!
So the night before. AMAZING nite. Best here. We stayed at a tiny pub with what can only be described as cabins for rooms. Very amusing, and cheap. We ate a massive group dinner for 10 dollars, consisting of venisin (deer) which i tried and LOVED!! That nite was a dress up nite, and we all had an hour to shops for bargain clothes or make them. The theme was a 'T-party' and after lots of stressing, i chose the tin man. Lots of foil and silver facepaint made a very effective costume (thanks to Hadley for wrapping me up, and doing a few repair jobs throughout the nite) meant everyone on the bus kinkly voted me to win!!! THe prize....another adrenaline activity in Queenstown. Bungy like its called the 'Canyon Swing' and i cant wait. THanks everyone!!
I cant remember much before that. I have got back on another horse again, really love it. Horse called Sandy Was SO stubborn. He would eat while the others jogged on, then trot to catch up. I got to canter for the first time, it was amzing!! Gotta run...hope everyone at home is well and keep me posted on the gossip. xxxx
