After my day at Albert Park, I returned home to unwind and recover from the heat and tired legs. The evening was spent relaxing, and it was only later on that I noticed how red my arms were. I went to bed and passed out straight away, well and truely worn out. So much so I slept through my alarm the next morning, not waking till 12pm.
When I did finally stir and come to my senses, I felt rather a rush of pain from my arms and neck. I looked down to observe the suns handywork from the day previous. Now, I make no excuses for myself. I have, up till now, been very good with sun cream and keeping covered up, but for whatever reason, I did not wear any when I went to Albert Park. The results were some of the worst burns I have ever received. See the photo for the results - and note - the white part of my arm is actually tanned compared to when I arrived in Melbourne.
The next few days were spent relaxing in the house. On Thursday, Hailey - Kris and Butzys ex housemate arrived to come and stay with us for the weekend. It was her birthday on Saturday and she had planned a big night out before travelling with what is left of her stuff to Brisbane and her new job up there.
We left for Blue Bar on Saturday afternoon at around 6pm and were picked up in Haileys friends' 1966 Ford Shelby Mustang imported from America. It was her birthday, but I have to say, that was a treat for me too! As we drove down to Blue Bar, we were getting some fairly respectable looks on Chapel Street - and had I been outside the car I would have been doing the same.
We chilled out in Blue Bar for a few hours - enjoying its great social scene and strictly observing its rules once again (I ended up buying 3 and Kris also bought 3 jugs of beer - thank god for Blues 'local' pricing). We left at about 9:30, again in Frankies Mustang, and drove into Melbourne CBD to visit the Highlander pub. We spent till close in the pub, and it was another epic night. The whole group is so friendly and welcoming, and the highlander boasts a ball-pit - like you used to go into at the soft play when you were little. Very entertaining!
After leaving the highlander I dont really remember much, but for waking up in my bed the next morning with possibly the worst hangover I have had since my 21st birthday back in Jesmond, Newcastle. I dragged myself out of bed at 12, determined to fight it with water and a full english breakfast. I managed to whip up the breakfast, but afterwards could face the world no more and returned to bed till 4pm, by which time I was starting to come around.
Since then I have been relaxing in the Melbourne heat. Its been 37 degrees here yesterday and its 38 today, and if there was not a strong breaze I think I would be choking.
