hi everybody..........if you have been keeping track of the up dates you will no that we left koh tao after becoming advanced divers to go on the visa run (so we could stay in thailand for another month, tight gits only give the english one month). The fun began at 8 at night when we had to get taxi to the ferry port coz the lady who was giving us a lift said we had to be there 2 hours before, this was a lie she just wanted to be back in bed at 10!!!!! The night ferry was not at all want we expected, the deck was just a mass of thin matresses, one by one the locals filled up the 'beds' untill there was not an inch of room, haylz thought she was safe being at the end of the row until a thai lady decided she could squeeze in next to her, i found this funny coz i already had a guy sprawled out next to me. As you can guess we didnt get much sleep, after being squeezed onto 1 matress and hearing the sound of some poor b***** throwing up over the side all night long. We did see the funny side of it though, after all it was a boat for the locals more than for travels, but at least there were a few familiar faces on board also doing the visa run who we had met diving. In the morning the boat arrived 6 hours later and we were again squashed into a mini bus for a 2 hour dive to the myanmar (burma) border, from here we thought it would be simple..... wrong!!!! We went to departure office to get stamped out of thailand, then back on mini bus, to trip to the pier, from here on to a boat to cross a river that took an hour, then get off the boat walk to the myanmar arrival office get a stamp, haylz had a mini heart attack coz at first they didnt have her passport, it was hiding under someone elses!!!! Then back on the boat getting blagged to death to buy fags, beer, even viagra....cross the river again back to the pier, to get back on the bus to go back to the arrivals office to get a stamp (welcome back to thailand, who now get another month) to get the bus 2 hours back to ferry port, to get the quick boat this time back to koh tao but we stayed on to finally arrive in koh phangan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 3 words, WHAT A BLAG, but funny all the same.
So party time at last, koh phangan (full moon party) with 7 days to spare we had plenty of time to hunt out good accommadation, as we had been warned that the days before full moon party accommadation gets fully booked. We found a mint place not in the busy area but still close enough to all the action, each night the beach gets busier and busier and the party gets bigger and bigger and people get messier and messier. With as many buckets as you can handle each night (buckets full of vodka, or rum, or gin topped up with red bull that is about ten times stronger than ours) the nights go on and on, with fire dancers, fire skipping ropes, fire hoops to jump through the party is madness. On the actual full moon, this month it happened to fall on a buddist holiday so the beach shut down for a night, not that this was any reason for the party not to carry on there was a pool party organised at one of the resorts and coz the beach was closed everyone on the island turned up to it, it was mental, all sorts going on, people who had forgot it was a pool party and turned up in clothes but they didnt care they soon came off... and to many naughty things to right about.......
The big day finally came and if you haven't already picked up what the full moon party is, it is a pilgramage for all travellers. That night boats and boats keep coming full of people who arent even staying on koh phangan just so they can party. This night was far bigger than all the warm up parties, with sound systems set up all down the beach with stages to dance, fire posts everywhere, there were that many people partying if you whated to leave one area to listen to some other music, the best bet was to walk in the sea to get around everyone. Buckets and buckets later sometime around 6ish we decided to have a sleep in the sleep zone only to find it was full, so had to sleep near by, woke up an hour or two later to see the party continuing on hard so danced for a bit more before retiring to bed with the thought of the after party that went on till 2pm to much to handle after all them buckets.
2 days to recover and all good things come to an end and it was time to move on again, back on the boats and buses and finally arrived in the madness of bangkok at 5 o'clock in the morning. It was a good job we got talking to a couple of people who had already been to bangkok coz we didnt have a clue, the first couple were hard core travels and had been traveling for 5 years they took us to a dump that they thought was nice, god knows what they had stayed in before, luckily there was another couple with us who said no chance so we followed them and have found a really nice place, abit more expensive to what we have been paying but well worth not staying in a dump or walking the streets at 5 am.
So thats us, we have just sorted our visa out for cambodia and leave on tuesday.
till next time be safe in your houses.
