Hello everyone!!! The town of 1770 is a quiet place with max 20 shops and a beutiful beach, so when we landed we thought this would be the perfect place to chill out and not spend any money for a couple of days!!! How wrong were we??? The hostel we stayed at was soooo chilled out there were bean-bags everywhere, a bonfire each night, lantens all around and hammocks to lazy about in? The hostel had loads of wicked tours available and it was hard to resist. The first tour we signed up for was "ScooterRoo",?which was a 3 hour drive around the area spotting?kangaroo's on chopper bikes. When I say chopper bikes?I don't mean the ones from the 70's! These?were motorised bikes with huge chopper handles and?reached the?speed of 80km on open?roads (to understand properly look at the pics!). Ian speaking now:?i just had to butt in, these bikes were proper fast to say we had never been on motor bikes before, however coz of my mini moto and endless hours of fun on that?I?was used to the?balance, braking and accelerating?so i got used to it very quickly and was soon blitzing past other people, before we set of haylz said dont wait around for me just enjoy it coz you can go faster than me which i thought was good of her but after 15 minutes or so as i looked over my shoulder who was coming steaming up the rear with a massive grin on her face, yep..... the speed demond herself motor biking barbie hayley mac. After that every time i looked behind me whether or not i had been blizting past people this massive grin was still there. It was class, a real laugh there were no cars on the road seen as only 80 people populate this town so there was no danger?and the bikes were automatic so really easy to drive? I had to butt in otherwise haylz would not have wrote about?her own smile, but it was very very funny, we are still laughing about it now, we both loved it. Back to me (Hayley).... After racingaround the town we stopped at the beach and watched the sun go down over the sea!
The second tour we booked on was close to Ian's heart.....we went up in a tiny plane over 1770 to a secluded beach but there was a HUGE added bonus - we both got to fly!!!!!! As we jumped into the plane Goose, sorry I mean Ian went first. The pilot handed over the controls straight away allowing Ian to drive us down the run to get into position for take off! Off we were flying with the birds with Ian flying us over a National Park and the beautiful blue sea, that was sooo clear we could see a turtle down below us!!! We landed on a secluded beach and went in search of oysters (yum, yum) with the pilot! After hacking away on the side of a rock for a couple of mins, the pilot handed us our very first oysters. They weren't that bad although they looked like snotty flesh and tasted VERY salty!!! Leaving the beach behind us and heading back to 1770 I was in the passenger seat next to the pilot. He handed the controls over to me and with VERY sweaty palms I managed to keep the plane up with no crash landings. I think I can speak for both of us when I say its a scary feeling to start with but after you've got used to everything and you've relaxed into it it was amazing!!!!!!!!!
Our next stop is Airlie Beach where we head off to the Whitsunday Islands on a dive boat and I'm sure we'll have many stories from it. Lots of love Hayley Ian xxxxx???
