Hi guys, Footy update: 3-0 to England v Switzerland, 2 goals from Rooney and 1 from Gerrard. Not a stunning performance by any means, but 3 points anyway so who cares!!! TC Thomi

Hi - all this talk of budgeting makes me think you are already hinting at wanting money for pressies at Xmas - no change there then! (only joking but I'll buy a lottery ticket for you tonight anyway) Sounds like you are having a very interesting experience already! love mom xxx

A short guide to peruvian food:
Burro - donkey
perro - dog
cuy - guinea pig
Each meal must be watched with a loud TV in the background.
A good source of cheap food is the local ´Menu´ which no matter where you are will consist of chicken broth (where the chicken is implied only), Saltado which is stir fried veg with chips(often stir fried with the veg) and rice followed by very sweet camomile tea. This can be purchased for the sum of S/5 maximum (1 quid). It can become a little repetitive in more ways than one.
In more worldly places such as Arequipa, chicken and chips is a pretty good bulk option. It didn´t take too well with Claire but if she will insist on having her roast chicken...
The Peruvians also appear to love cake. Not just small buns but huge ellaborate wedding cake style cakes. They are everywhere.
If anyone can think of a good source of calcium in a place where milk is only condensed and cheese is like bad feta please let us know.
If you look at todays photo´s there is a picture of us together in a cafe. We trusted the chef to take the photo as he squealed with delight when we asked! We treated ourselves to a pealla (the spanish would be offended) and blew the budget on a coffee each.

Cheers for the messages.
Yes bananas have seemed to feature quite a lot. They´ve been our staple diet since we arrived. They´re cheaper than chips and twice as good, and also a safe bet. We´re going to add our own take on Peruvian food when we get a chance. We´re having an internet / photo mare at the moment. Yahoo, belss them have upgraded us to 2Gb of email space. Unfortunately they may have done this for every other b***** so the system has ground to a halt while everyone uploads thier thoughts and photos. Have they no consideration, we´re trying to book trips to the jungle don´t you know. Claire´s camera aslo didn´t take a liking to the sand in Huaccachina and in playing silly b*****s so we are on a hunt for a cheap normal camera, low tech style.
We´re off to Colca Canyon for a three day hike hunting Condors so we won´t be in touch for a while. It´ll be good practice for the Macchu Picchu trail which have finally booked for the 15th of July.
One last thing. What day is it? We have completely lost track.

Love the piccies, although I notice that bananas feature in many of the shots! And I'm glad to see Ian shaving after we tried to convince him to leave the razor behind. Not much to report here apart from the excitement of weaning Cara on to solids. I think I'm try bananas tomorrow in honour of you both! love Tina x

Hiya, I'm sure you already know the score by now but just in case... 1-0 to England at 90 mins (lampard header from a beckham freekick) 1-1 91 mins Heskey lunge led to Zidane free kick and wonder goal. 1-2 93 mins, Gerrard mental aberation of a backpass led to James lunge at Henry in the box. Zidane penalty and scores!!!!! Mark's still in shock. TC Thomi

THAT'S IT !! You're really on the way! GOOD LUCK !!
To make you think in French, you're not allowed anymore to say: "ce n'est pas le Pérou!".
Is it really like Paradise?
