I have just arrived in Rome, Italy from Bucharest, Romania. Romania was lots of fun. I called a cab to get to my hotel from the airport because it was very late. There was a TV in the back of the cab, but I decided not to watch because Rome at night is so amazing! I couldn't miss it! The architecture and lights were dazzling. We passed the Roman Coliseum on the way to the hotel. I immediately knew that was where I was going to go first thing in the morning. The driver pulled over and he took out my bags and brought them inside for me. It was a cool night and I needed my jacket. I paid him 30 Euros and 5 extra Euros for taking in my bags. I checked in and I got my key. I went straight to bed because of all the flying I had done that day.
The next morning, I got breakfast, which was orange juice, a hazelnut cinnamon roll and chocolate biscotti. The reason I ate such a light and unhealthy breakfast is because I wanted to see for myself why Italian breakfasts are easy to take to work. I read this in my guidebook and I think in the end, I loved having something sweet for breakfast! Speaking of unhealthy food, on the airplane trip to Italy I had a humongous healthy salad so I figured I deserved just a little unhealthy breakfast. After eating my breakfast, I took a cab to the Coliseum to go take a tour. The history behind this marvel is quite gruesome and dark. Some other things that aren't gruesome are the mechanical workings of the arena. The tour guide explained that the arena could be filled with water and the Romans had ship battles (reenacted of course). They also had lions pop out of the floor in a matter of seconds if a gladiator needed to be killed. After that cool tour I went to grab some lunch, which was an Italian pizza and some spaghetti. I found out that this guy Marco Polo brought spaghetti to Italy. I thought Marco Polo was just a pool game. After that great lunch, I went to take a swim at the hotels pool and after that I got some rest and went out for dinner. Dinner was Pizzoccheri which is a type of pasta, a fresh garden salad and finale to top that all off I had gelato which tasted so good I ordered two servings. After that hearty meal I went to bed because I had a huge day ahead of me.
I woke up the morning pumped and ready to go. I called a cab to take me to the airport. I was getting ready to go to Venice. The plane ride was about an hour. When I landed in Venice, my Grandma had planned a surprise for me. She had prearranged a rental car for me. She must have found out that I was heading to Venice, so she gave me my favorite kind of car, a Lamborghini, for me to drive around. I took a scenic drive and then went to my hotel. I dropped off the car at the hotel and then walked into central Venice. Because Venice is a flooded city, I took a boat ride and ate dinner. I wasn't very hungry so I just had bresaola which is: olives, a pickled onion and bread. I had to leave Venice early, but I would be back tomorrow. I got to the hotel had some hot cocoa and then went to sleep. I woke and went straight to Venice for breakfast. I had doughnuts called bambollini. That's all I had. I took a boat ride again I got an email from my Mom. She said she wanted a picture of me with the boat driver. I asked the boat driver for a picture and we took a cool picture in front of his boat and I sent it to him and my Mom.
The day was getting short; I was getting ready to tour Venice when I saw my friend Mackenzie so would hung out and talked. I realized what time it was and that I had to go. I said my goodbyes and left to go to the hotel. I ate quick dinner of salumi (which are cured meats and sausages) and fresh bread and went to bed. I went to the airport in the morning and got ready to go to Ireland.
