My friends Claudine and Claire, having endured looking at my photos of Peru (only 100 - carefully selected from over 1,000!) challenged me to limit myself to a selection of one a week on this trip. So here's the first. A theme of the first week was seeing cities by night from up high. Hong Kong from The Peak and Christchurch from our B&B in Cashmere Heights. This a photo taken from the B&B of the city and the house next door.

Claire Ambrose Hey Iain I love photo number 1, I want to be there instead of here please. Just a quick message to tell you and Kate that I'm loving your blog and do you think you could travel home via lovely bits of France and then blog about which I should choose to enjoy in the summer? Seriously I think your travel writing is telling me lots of stuff I didn't know (that won't surprise you) as well as making me want to be more adventurous in my travels. Now if only I didn't have to teach...! P.s. my brother in law owns 2 vw campers of which he is seriously proud and I admit they are very gorgeous especially the cream, split screenvan in perfect condition but then I don't think it's been much further than Scarborough! Enjoy your adventure, oh and poor Claudine slipped when it was icy in Durham and fractured her wrist so she's just recovering now before they go to USA. Claire x
