Greetings from Cardiff! I finally made it to the United Kingdom today, only to get stranded. Ok stranded is kind of a strong word. I'm looking at the situation as a partially funded bonus vacation. The flight over was long and I'm not sure I could have taken 8 more hours in the air. Last night we were finally cleared to take off from Newark after a few delays and a possible cancellation. Once in the plane we got backed up during the taxi and had to sit on the plane for an additional hour before we left. Once we got to cruising altitude they had problems with the climate control system and the entertainment system. I've never known panic quite like facing a seven hour flight without any entertainment. They finally did get it up and running two hours into the flight. Once we landed at Heathrow today I headed into central London and hopped a train at Paddington Station. I haven't slept for almost 28 hours and I'm starting to drag. Cardiff seems to be a very quaint little town. The Welsch are such friendly people, so I'm pretty happy here. I may think about walking over to the Hard Rock Cafe for dinner before heading over to see Cardiff Castle. Tomorrow is Doctor Who/Torchwood Day for me. Doctor Who museum and then a thurough exploration of the filming locations throughout Cardiff Bay. I just hope they have DW or TW postcards at the museum for me to send everyone.
