Arrived in the evening totally overjoyed at massive bed and lush room! Next day met an aussie guy called dennis at breakfast ended up getting a free lift with him and his friend to graceland. Graceland was touristy and pretty pricey, but really good. Also went to Stax Museum, which was wicked! we now know everything there is to know about american soul music. Had greasy dinner at Denny's Diner.
Next day it was rainy and cold walked to the civil rights museum to find a closed door, the only day of the week it isnt open is the day we chose to go...Tried Hersheys choclate, actually tastes like sick. DO not reccomend.
18th - Rainy still museum was open yay! read martin luther and civil rights facts till our brains ached, spent all day there was really amazing. Left feeling pretty deppressed though, really eerie place. Deffinatly worth it!
Got the coach the next day arrived at Nashville 'music city' hostel, which was fully booked, so we had to share a top bunk. which had no barriers. Hostel really relaxed music playing people everywhere. Next morning Hugh s pancake making skills were not apparant in any way, looked like scrambled egg? Walked around Nashville, the smell of steak and the sound of country music coming out of nearly every doorway.
21st - Got the bus to New Orleans! had to wait around in alabamma in a bus station for 5 hours, chatted to a friendly hillbilly (his words) and a friendly homeless lady warning us about being mugged in New Orleans as it was what she used to do!
