Well folks, we from North Carolina welcome you.
We spent 5 days in Herndon, Virginia visiting with Harry's sister Lorine and her husband Bill. We visited Washington, D.C. as we had mentioned in a previous blog, although I had forgotten to mention that when we were walking in front of the White House, Good Morning America's Robin Roberts walked passed us. She really is a beautiful woman, and we almost made eye contact, so it was really quite a special moment. We had also visited the Washington Smithsonian museum, while there were many interesting things to see, my favorite was the ruby slippers that Dorothy wore in the movie "The wizard of Oz", as well as Archie and Edith Bunker's chairs from "All in the family". During those 5 days, we got to spend some time with our niece Jocelyn, and our niece Kim and her fiancee Kristi had us over to their beautiful home for a delicious meal and a fun evening of playing games. Unfortunately, the next day, Harry, Bill and Kim went golfing, I say unfortunately because Harry beat Kim by a mere 9 points, which meant that we were all subjected to his bragging relentlessly during dinner.
The weather in Herndon while we were there was anywhere from -2 to +13, and today we got back on the road heading southeast with Lorine and Bill and their trailer. We are spending the evening at a lovely campground in Shawboro, North Carolina. The weather here at the moment is 16 with a light rain, and as I write this, I am killing a mosquito on my chin, so which one is better, mosquitos or snow? Upon arriving here, Harry and I parked our van and put the awning down, we then grabbed a cocktail for ourselves while we watched Lorine and Bill (the campers with the brand new trailer) park, unload, arrange, fix, fill up, and adjust numerous items on their trailer. A mere 45 minutes later, they were finished and joined us for a drink, while they listened to Harry mocking them about their set-up time.
Tomorrow we continue with our trip heading to the outer banks, so we shall continue our story then, take care.
