After hitting the road at 6:23 a.m., my anxious traveller started to make tracks, stopping in Iowa twice just to refuel and have a little break. We then entered Missouri and decided that since the weather was so beautiful (and that we had had such an early start), that we would go a little further than originally planned. We stopped in Mound City to fill our propane tank (so that we could continue to have heat), while Harry was getting the propane topped off, I decided to fill our gas tank. Now, I have filled up our vehicles many, many times over the years, so this is not a new thing for me, but apparently I wasn't paying attention and I grabbed the nozzle and attempted to put it in the gas tank. For some strange reason, the nozzle was too big and wouldn't fit, Harry walked over and I mentioned this to him, at which point, he noticed that I was trying to put diesel fuel instead of unleaded into our gas tank. Boy, that would of really stirred him up. Those who really know Harry can attest to the fact that the Schlamp temper would have been in full bloom had I been successful.
We continue driving and stop for another little walk when, as Harry is getting out, he bumps his head in the driver side doorway and takes off a chunk of skin (I really should wipe the blood smear that is on the doorframe. ) We found a different campsite which is in Sedalia, it's a decent place although the washrooms and showers are closed for the winter, did I mention that we have not had running water since we left as it's been too cold for water to be in our pipes, tonight I shall have a sponge bath using wet wipes. We then went to Colton's steakhouse and grill, as per usual, the restaurant was only a quater full and they again tried to seat us right next to a couple with 3 small screaming children, but no worries, cranky Harry asked them to seat us a little further. The meal was delicious (they give you honey as well as butter to put on your buns), and then we returned to our campsite. As Harry was plugging our camper in, he managed to get his second injury (it's not a vacation unless Harry gets injured numerous times), he was able to get a rusty nail to go into his finger. He comes in and decides to tell me about it, as I'm cleaning up his second wound of the day, I ask him when it was that he had last received his booster shot, his reply was, " it's been a while, but boosters last about 20 years or so!" This, ladies and gentlemen, is what I have to put up with.
We were comfortably watching a movie a few minutes ago when our movie stopped for no reason, which brings us to now. It's 8:39 and Harry is asleep already, if he keeps this up, he'll be like a baby who has his days and nights mixed-up. Take care everyone, do leave us a comment as we enjoy them very much.
