Hi all my peeps, since I no longer have villagers adoring me, I must keep my peeps intellectually fed with my witty and insightful repartee about my time in Athens. Today, those succulent kabobs played on my mind all night, and I awoke at the crack of 5:30 thinking of how to warm them up. I sadly leapt from bed, (close enough to morning right?) and warmed those glorious little skewers filled with beef and pepper. So good. I had a coffee and then back to bed where I admonished myself for being weak and then slept till 830am
At 10, the bride and I left the confines of our estate and headed to the metro. We located it 5 blocks away but couldn't figure out how to pay or where to stand so we asked. When we've asked the locals for directions, they've been very helpful. Downstairs we go and see on the board Acropolis, so yep here we go. Holy crap, it worked, three stops later we arrived.
I was warned the lineup to get tickets could be anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour and a half due to the cruise ship people getting off. We get there and maybe twenty people were in front of us in line when Dominique strikes up a conversation with an 75 yr old upstate New Yorker. As soon as I heard he was from the US, I got an uneasy feeling because I don't know what Dominique might say or do. Oh boy, here it comes ....no Dom don't, oh no too late "are you a Trump supporter?" she says. Too late, this old boy is a red ball gap wearing, god loving, gun toting, I hate that sum b**** Hillary spewing republican. She's on her own, I turn around and leave those two to discuss politics.
Tickets to get into the acropolis cost 20 euros per person. Wow, quite the deal considering London was charging 25 pounds for the world's slowest Ferris wheel (Coca Cola eye)
Up we wander, and the history and sites are incredible, the place is massive and filled with culture. We wandered all around for 3 hours then went to the Acropolis museum which costs 5 euros pp. This is a new building and is where most of the artifiacts found have been restored and showcased. Incredible pottery craftsmanship considering I couldn't even make a cup with an electric spinning wheel and clay.
We finished there and found a little restaurant and had a late lunch of spaghetti for Dom the democrat, and a Gyros for myself. We sat beside another couple on their honeymoon from the US and Dom struck up a conversation. She has been 0 for 49 when telling people we are from Manitoba and having them actually know where that is. But this couple from Orange County California knew a person from Winnipeg so he knew where Manitoba was. My bride is now 1-49.
Paid our bill and left for the metro and got our tickets. Now, which platform do we go to. Down the stairs, up the stairs and we bump our heads and find it. On we go and it all worked out. We're getting better at this.
I've concluded is is how our trip plays out, Day 1 in new city we are utterly useless, day 2 we somewhat get the lay of the land, day 3 feeling confident and then we leave and start all over again.
Oh boy, tomorrow we leave our B n B at 1030 to catch our tram, then 11:05 to catch our bus to the airport for our 2 pm 45 minute flight. I actually feel confident this is going to work..
Next time we talk we will be in Naples. /p>

Lorine Kind of a tame day. Somehow I'm slightly disappointed. I know however there will be some goofy story at the next stop.
