Holly's and Helly's BIG adventure!!
Well, Budapest, actually quite similar to Prague in my mind, we arrived at the train station, again in the early hours of the morning after a very traumatic train journey on my part in which we were woken up a number of times by passport control flinging open the door to our carriage room and turning the lights on with no thoughts to us sleeping inside! After finding a taxi (yes lazy i know!) we went straight to our hostel and again slept, when we woke up at 1pm we decided that the best way to spend our day would be to go out to the supermarket to buy 'supplies' and then go back to our room and chill out. This plan was soon put into action and armed with yoghurt, sweets, bread cheese and soft drinks we ate, read and slept our way through the afternoon with a bit of hungarian tv thrown in!
The next morning we undertook the now very familiar routine of dropping our bags at the station and setting off to explore the latest city. We decided that the best way to see Budapest would be to take a tour bus and join the other tourists in true tourist style! Off we trundled, and 2 hours later were filled with the delights of the Hungarian capital! Having to catch a train at 7.15 meant that our options for the afternoon were limited and much as we would have loved to have a Hungarian bath we didn't have the time, so after a wander around the city we made our way back to the station.
The train journey from Budapest to Thessoloniki was MAMMOUTH! 2 nights and a day arriving at 6am local time, the passport checks were still as startling and the train was again just as ancient (i honestly believe they would be illegal in Britain!) but we made it unscathed and intact!
