After the carrier back rustle we are awake to head down to the local supermarket which is about a 20 min walk. We get some wraps and roast duck and make some lunch. The supermarkets full of fresh meat, fish, crabs, etc in tanks. A lot of the fish are floating upside down with blood coming out, and I'm glad I picked the pre packaged duck.
Spend the day sorting out my japan pics and we get a Spanish roommate who's a lot more chatty than the grunting one.
We have a tea of instant noodles which is pathetic and get ready to go out for the night. We have a few in the hostel bar which is cheap but has no vibe at all and about 3 people in (the hostel is huge) so it's a shame there's not more going on. We realise nobody apart from our Spanish roommate has bothered with conversation which is the only drawback to the hostel - it has potential but there's get go know you type events or proper common room.
We get the metro Into the centre (which is where we were dropped on the bus from the airport when we arrived) and go to tughe street which Yasmin has researched to have a few decent bars. First one is 'mahoneys' and has a live band on doing covers of natalie imbruliagh and alaniso moresette which I'm slyly content with. Two vodkas are a massive 100rmb so we have just one (top up in the bogs with Yasmin's hip flask of vodka) and head off to 'I love shanghai' bar. It's upstairs of a restaurant and you wouldn't know it was really there. Is quiet when we get there but it's 100rmb each for a free bar for the next few hours, and vodkas included which is boss. We get pissed and meet some American teachers who are really friendly and have a game of pool with us. I'm awful and We are both pissed so I feel sorry for the poor guys who teamed up with us.
We get a taxi home and yas has a McDonald's, I resist and fall into bed fully clothed and makeup'd.
