Nurioopta, Barossa Valley Thursday (arrived Thurs, 17th March departed Sunday 20th March)
There is a story behind our visit to Nurioopta.Along the Great Ocean Road we met a friendly couple, John & Joce, from Adelaide.Who were more than happy to answer all my questions about travel in South Australia. They were also one of many who suggested we stay at West Beach while in Adelaide.
By pure coincidence we bumped into John and Joce again at West Beach and later that evening we joined them and their friends for a drink. Two of their friends Bronte and Helen kindly invited us to stay at their place if we were passing through the Barossa.
So that is how we came to be here.
We pulled up in the driveway of Bronte and Helen's.The boys could not believe their eyes…was this a mini golf course they could see in the backyard?Without delay they were out of the car and up on the putting green ready to hack a few balls around.Bronte's putting green provided plenty of fun for the boys over the next three days.
The following day we had a private tour of Henschke Wines (thanks to their son who works their). The boys and I got to taste pure grape juice…straight from the crusher. Afterwards the adults endulged in a bit of wine tasting and we walked away with a couple of bottles for our trip up the centre.
We later stopped at Whistler Wines (owned and operated by friends of Bronte and Helen). It was fantastic for the boys as they got to pat and hand feed the kangaroos that hold residency at the winery (thanks to the hard work and commitment of Sally). We enjoyed some more delicious wine and again walked away with a couple of bottles.A great stop for anyone visiting the Barossa.
That evening John and Joce drove up from Adelaide. We all drank more wine and shared plenty of laughs. It felt like we had known each other for ages.
After a BBQ breakfast on Sunday morning the boys heading out the back with Helen. They returned looking very cute with their buckets full of fruit. They were chuffed. We ended up leaving with a bag full of home grown apples, pears and tomatoes (thanks helen).
We really enjoyed our stay with Bronte and Helen and thank them so much for their kind hospitality and friendliness.
