Left Sussex Inlet on Saturday 22nd January and made our way to Mimosa Rocks National Park (just south of Bermagui).
We arrived late in the afternoon and after a minor hickup with the campertrailer jockey wheel we were soon set up and preparing dinner. The boys couldn't wait to change into their "camping outfit". We sat around the campfire and after dinner Baz cooked the boys their first campfire jaffle.
The next few days were spent playing, swimming, snorkelling, kayaking and observing the local wildlife. We had our first dinner in the camp oven, which was a success. The boys made bow and arrows and went stalking though the bushland. As they became more and more confident they ventured further from our camp. At one point Max wanted to show Roy his secret hiding place. To our surprise he took Roy way up over the hill towards the next beach. Roy started calling Max "John" as in John Rambo. To Max's disappointment I didn't think the code name warranted an explanation.
On Monday we took a drive to Tarthra and on the way back we found a beautiful inlet to kayak (Lake Nelson). While the boys enjoyed stripping off and swimming "nudey rudey" in the crystal clear water, I didn't enjoying seeing a red belly black snake (about 10m from us) or as Archie calls it "a big belly nake". This came just after seeing a huge goanna right outside the door of our camper. I now have snake phobia!!! The boys however love the goannas. Archie was off wondering around the bush the other day, when I asked him what he was doing, he replied "just looking for goannas".
Today we had a short drive from Mimosa Rocks National Park to our next stop, Eden. Roy and the boys were sad to leave "the bush", but after 5 days I was keen for a shower.
