Hi All
On Tuesday we had a long day of travelling. We caught a boat from Phi Phi to Krabi mainland, a bus across the mainland to Surat Thani, another boat to Ko Samui, then a Songthaew (pickup with benches taxi) across the island. It was a bit full so Pete ended up standing on a step bolted onto the bumper and our rucksacks went onto the roof. Unfortunately, the taxi driver didn't understand where we were going, but rather than say so, he decided to just ditch us in the nearest town that he understood. We caught another taxi, who did exactly the same! We then found a police station, called the hostel and got direct instructions - by this point we figured it's be easier (and cheaper) to walk! By the time we arrived it was late so we offloaded our laundry onto the hostel, had dinner and got some kip.
On Wednesday we went to Chaweng beach. We grabbed a drink at a bar then walked along the seafront. Much to Hols horror, the lovely trousers she'd bought from the market in Thailand had split - right down the bum. Pete gave much sympathy in the way of rolling around the floor laughing and pointing. Hol was least impressed!! Thankfully the beach front is littered with clothes shops, so a quick dash relieved the embarrassment and we vowed never to buy market clothes again. We spent most of the afternoon browsing the shops, chillin' out on the beach and generally exploring our new island.
On Thursday we went to the more local beach of Mae Nam. Much quieter, far more laid back and generally just as beautiful as the rest of Thailand (if not a touch more due to the beaches!) We spent the day reading on the beach and playing in the sea, makes a pleasant change to the pace that we'd been ploughing through China! In the evening we went back towards the hostel, grabbed some (gorgeous) food at a local German BBQ place and crashed out.
Next stop, Koh Tao.
Hol and Pete
xXx
