So if you like Starbucks, move to Seattle. I swear I have never seen so many in all my life. We were in one parking lot that had one on either side. Less than 200 yards apart, and then one in between the two inside a Barnes & Noble. Those Seattleans are really serious about their coffee.
Anyways, after Spokane we drove about four and half hours to Seattle to stay with with my friend Jenna. She lives with four other girls in a really classic house in a sweet little neighborhood. There are a lot of cool spots within walking distance. When we first got there, Jenna gave us a short tour on a walk to a local market to get supplies for dinner. Jenna and her boyfriend Dave made us a great dinner of crepes. Ashleigh is hooked. After dinner the guys beat the girls in a painful game of scrabble. On that note, apparently "waugh" is a word that means damp. Kudos Ash.
The next morning we slept in a bit before heading in to tour Seattle. It was overcast, wet, and waughy. We walked around Pike's Place for a bit and then went to see the Space Needle. After a wet walking day, Jenna took us to a cozy little coffee shop for a spell. We warmed up then headed to an incredible little grocery store called Trader Joe's. This place was great. It had a ton of fresh organic food for really good prices. I tried to mimic the Thai curry pasta dish that Kurt made for us in Spokane. It wasn't the same but still came out alright. It also snowed for the third time this winter and made it really pretty out.
The next morning, the snow had froze and made it really icy. We decided to wait till it warmed up a bit before taking off, so we walked down to an organic doughnut shop and had some amazing doughnuts.
The sun came out, the snow melted, and it was a really nice day. We decided to head back to Pike's to see it in better weather. After getting hassled by some guy trying to get me to buy a salmon, we grabbed a couple coffees at the first Starbucks and hit the road. We were only going about twenty five miles South to crash at my friend Shaunna's place. Thank you Jenna for letting us stay there and see Seattle.
