We had a long flight to Singapore, almost nine hours. We arrived in the evening on Wednesday July 16th.We didnt have any hostel reservations so we took a chance and headed to "The Prince of Whales" hostel. We were fortunate to grab a spot for our few nights there. It was a neat hostel. They had live music and cool bar area with a beergarden out back. The hostel was located in Little India so we felt like we got a taste of India as well as Singapore.
We didnt know what to expect in coming to Singapore. We really didnt know much about it. We were pleasantly surprised. Such a clean city (people arent lying when they say you cant chew gum, we didnt find anyplace that sold it.) People are very helpful and public transportation is great.
We heard that the zoo was a must so our first day we headed to the Singapore Zoo. We saw some super cool animals...I plan on changing my career to a sea lion trainer as soon as I return home. We also got to fed the kangaroos, man they have sharp claws. The craziest part of our day was our discovery of a dead crocodile. Seriously...we watched him for a long time and Chris even threw stuff at him. We was completely submerged in the water and his mouth was all crooked and hanging open. It was pretty intense.
That night we headed to the Night Safari. This was another zoo a few meters away from the Singapore zoo, but it had a lot of nocturnal animals. We got on a tram that took us around the park. It was very dimly lit so the animals didnt really know we were there. It was cool. We even walked through a bat atrium...yikes!!! They swopped down right towards our heads. I wasnt a big fan of it especially since they are the size of small dogs.
We really enjoyed our time in Singapore, it was quick but fun. On to Bangkok!
