Day 33 - Coffs Harbour
After spending one week in Port Macquarie we travelled up to Woolgoolga where we met up with some of the Armidale clan. Brommy, Col, Karen, Leam, and Alyssa all arrived on the Wednesday the same as us with Tuffy arriving Thursday, James, Ness, Cottee, and Miller on Friday, and Darren and LJ on Saturday. Tuffy went back on Sunday afternoon because he had to work on Monday morning but the rest of us stayed until today (Monday). The Armidale clan headed back to life in Armidale and we traveled 20 minutes south to the heart of Coffs Harbour where we will stay for at least one week.
Woolgoolga is quite a good spot for the kids as it has the pool, the beach, and a lake in behind the beach which is great for wading and playing in the sand in relative safety. Jessica and Sophie really enjoyed the company of the other kids and I'm sure will miss that over the next few weeks. We may be catching up with some of the Armidale clan at the Nimboida River in a week or two but nothing is confirmed as yet.
The park we are at in Coffs Harbour was recommended to us by a family we met in Port Macquarie. They had been travelling for 5 months and said this particular park was the best park they had stayed at for the entire trip. The pool is amazing and really designed for all ages with a kids water park area and a deeper resort style area for the adults or older kids. There is also a playground and jumping pillow for the kids. Around Coffs Harbour there are also plenty of activities and things to keep us occupied.
Yesterday we all went to the Big Banana which Jessica and Sophie really enjoyed, although it no longer really has very much to do with bananas.... it's more of a small theme park with a downhill toboggan ride and and a water slide/game area. Daredevil Jessica went on the biggest water slide and absolutely loved it. It would have been at least a few stories tall!!! The toboggan ride was good as it was suitable even for Sophie's age as it's designed for two riders (one adult and one child) and the speed can be controlled using a lever. I'm sure Jessica will be wanting to go back there before we leave Coffs Harbour!
So far the work/travel/holiday concept is working well. Dao often takes the kids to the pool or playground while I am working or does some "learning" with Jessica.
Until next time.....
