Day 38 Fri 17 Jun 16, Albany, cloudy but no rain, 10 to 15 deg. First job on the list this morning was to get the Mazda BT 50 serviced, as we just clocked up 20,000km on it. Greg dropped it off at Albany Mazda at 8am and then walked back to the van park which was only 2km. Wendy had the clothes washing in full swing by this time and was working too; that's women for you, multitasking. With Wendy very busy, Greg took off on the bike for a recon around Albany. Straight onto a good off-the-road bike path and that is pretty much how it was for the whole ride. Albany has a great cycle/walking path right along the foreshore, and it's quite undulating so there's plenty of opportunities to take in some great views over King George Sound and the ocean. The path ended at the city so a wander around a fairly old historical city centre with over 50 colonial buildings was interesting. Of course the connection with the ANZACs in WWI is never far away, with Albany being the departure port for over 40,000 Aussie Diggers and NZ soldiers in 1914. For so many of these brave souls Albany was their last sighting of Australia before being KIA at Gallipoli or the Western Front. We will explore the ANZAC Memorials, tomorrow. Dinner was Indian leftovers, tasted even better the second time around.
