Walker's Travels in Scandinavia 2017 and others
We wanted to leave home no later than 5am and Gunther kindly offered to drive us to the airport. He picked Mark up first and arrived 10 minutes early and Wendy was not quite ready. A few minutes later we were on our way in our ute, which Gunther would drive home and secure for us. He will then pick us up in it when we get back. We were at the airport by 5:30am and did not have to wait long before checking-in - all the way to Bangkok. It was then time for a coffee and a wait. Some idiot in the security queue in front of us failed to secure his extra batteries so held up the line for a few minutes, however, there was no real rush so we just chilled. We didn't have to wait too long before we boarded and were on our way shortly after that. Just as we were being served our light refreshment the first officer told us that we had been told to slow down by Brisbane air traffic control - how unusual for Brisbane airport to be "going slow"?! Again, this was not going to be an issue as we have about 4 hours to get over the to the international terminal. So we consumed our snack and relaxed for the rest of the flight. We were delayed by only 10 mins and were soon outside waiting for the T-Bus to take us to the international terminal. We thought we would have to wait at least 10 mins, but along came the bus after only 5. We made our way to the security point, filled in/out the departure card and proceeded through security and immigration. The three of us went through the E-gate. However, Mark failed to heed the warning to remove his glasses and got taken away to join the mandrolic queue! Silly sausage. Wendy wanted to buy another portable power bank so we met Mark on the other side of duty free and made our way to the QC where Wendy tried to get both Greg and Mark in with her with no luck; "only one gust allowed". Oh well, you gotta try. Greg and Wendy had some proper breakfast of scramble eggs, sausages, toast, yoghurt, and ...... coffee! Nice coffee too. Greg had a wander through the airport, made a few phone calls, and Wendy had a half a glass of sparkling wine and waited. As usual, the flight was a tad delayed and we were finally in the air about 12:30pm and, after just over 7 and a bit flying hours, two meals, three movies for Wendy and a number of doctors for Greg, we landed in Singapore 30 minutes early. Mark had to proceed through customs etc, find his bag, re-check it, come back through Customs etc all because QANTAS in Hervey Bay could not print a boarding pass nor check his bags right through. But they did for us?? Hi We found the QC, had some fresh tropical fruit, refreshments, abluted and it was time to make our way to the departure lounge, through security again, and waited. We boarded 40 minutes late and the captain said he would try to make up some time. This flight was with Jetstar Asia, but because we had booked with a QANTAS ticket, we got a free hot meal with tea and coffee whilst all other passengers had no hot meal and had to pay for snacks and drinks. Mark had no free meal either; he booked exactly the same flights as us, but did it through webjet. We arrived half an hour later than originally scheduled, had to walk about a km to get thru immigration, pick up the bags, go through customs and find a taxi. You have to go to a ticketing machine which gives you a chit with your lane number. You go to that lane and wait for you taxi to arrive. Ours arrived at the same time we did. It was a very hair raising ride into the city to The Grand President Hotel. We checked in, unpacked then Greg met Mark and Bob downstairs and went for a night cap. Time for a shower and bed as we have a relatively early start.

Barney Mate, no wonder you were a meat head and an officer bashing half drunk soldiers in dark ally's, you are very verbose. Enjoy.
Susan Parsons Sounds like you've got a dodgy travelling partner!
Gunther Wha tdid Greg need the doctors for ? or were they medicinal drinks.?
