Walker's Travels in Scandinavia 2017 and others
A very full flight from Sydney to Dubai, but comfy, on time and uneventful; just the way we like it. A few leg-stretching walks from one end to the other of the massive AIRBUS A380, a couple of meals, a snack or two, some music and movies, hey presto the 14 odd hours of this long flight were gone, we wish. It was nice to get off in Dubai, get some real coffee, really stretch the legs and freshen up. Two hours later we boarded another A380 on time for the shorter (6+ hours) to Frankfurt. We are hoping that our bikes and gear are on the same plane. Arrived at a very wet and stormy looking Frankfurt at 1pm, 13deg C! Lucky we're catching the train to our motel. Cleared Immigration and was pleased to see our bike boxes in the oversize luggage area, however as we were waiting for our bags we heard an announcement that we were to report to the luggage claim counter. They told us that one piece, Greg's bag, was not there, but they knew where it was. Wendy gave them all the details for delivery later that night. Also Gunther and Yvonne's were also missing. We then set off for the Motel in the city via train and a 2km walk. It would have been fine if we had all the luggage and hence all the wheels for the boxes, but we had to try and make do with half the amount which made it hard after a rather frustrating day. We eventually found a maxi-cab which could take 3 bikes and finish the job. Dinner was taken at a very German bar with a good pork steak, chips, salad and a beer. A rather early night to bed followed.
