We left pai on a four hour bus trip to chang mai, jumped off the bus and jumped straight onto a five hour trip to sukhothai, talk about good timing, we arrived on the outskirts of town unsure of where we wanted to go and where we were going to stay, we dismissed half a dozen touts and taxis drivers before one guy opffered a free lift to see his guest house that the pictures made look to good for the price, it was one of the very few times where the pictures were thye same as the room, it was simply to good to say no to, if we had walked past this place we wouldnt have bothered to go in to ask because we asumed we couldnot afford to stay there! We dumped our bags and made the most of the free bikes to ride into town, which was a nice mid sizedtown, we parked the bikes making sure to put on the steering locks before going to look for a bite to eat off the market stalls, after wandering round for an hour or so trying diferent tasty treats on our way we settled into a market bar for a beer of two before riding home for food beer and bed. On the ride home hev was chased for a short put pant wetting distance down the road by a black lab (the only dog ever to have bitten her was a lab) we once again nparked up the bikes and went in for indonisian rice and a couple of beers whilst planing how to asault sukhothai the next day.
Next morning after a filling breakie we were told the guesthouse would run us to the bus stop for the ancient town, awesome timing again as we arrived as the bus did, we jumped on board and were taken to the parks main gates, where we decided to walk instead of hiring a bike, this way i think you feel like you get the most out of your ticket, or may be its because were tight and bikes cost money to rent, who knows for sure?? The ruins very quickly became another set of old ruins, i know it sounds awfull but unless you have a real intrest in ancient culture they all start to be very same same, still by one o clock we were hungry and left the park for lunch, that we enjoyed with the company on a local child, who got into a compertition with us on who could pull the worst face or who could do the weirdest things with there hands, id give the first one to the local kid, as his faces made both of us laugh and the second goes to hev and her weird thumbs, the kid looked dumb struck.
After a good feed and watering we took on round two of the park which was still intresting to a point, when the heavens opened and we were no where near cover we took that as a sign to leave, so we trudged back through the park unsucsesfully searching for a short cut to the bus, when we arrived at the bus stop a bus pulled in, again perfect timing, we returned to our guesthouse to plan our onward journey to kho chang, our island get away, via Bangkok. The next day thats exactlly what we did, we caught the bus to bangkok (the worlds biggest bus station im sure, it took us twenty minutes to walk from one end to the other) and jumped straight on a bus to Trat, only a short boat ridr from paradise??
thats what ill tell you about next time untill then
