Dear Diary

Lets get started then... Nairobi airport requires a diary entry all of its own.

We were stuck in this nasty hole for 9 hours on the way from Heathrow to Johannesburg. Air Kenya's central hub airport majestically fails to live up to its self certified tag line 'the Pride of Africa'.
It's a day of frustration, furry/missing teeth and overpriced turkey sandwiches (14usd). Reasons for delays are:
1. On a previous air Kenya flight the oxygen masks are triggered from the ceiling. This causes widespread panic and the plane returns to base where the skittish passengers can be amalgamated into our flight.
2. We get onto the now delayed and rescheduled plane and are taxi-ing down the runway before we are told that the left engine doesn't work. At least they serve us breakfast before they bundle us back into the grim airport again.
3. When after a further four hours we are seated in our next plane a concerned passenger gets The Fear and demands to be let off the plane. A search to locate baggage ensues before we finally get into Kenyan airspace.

I hope I never see that airport again.
Oh, yes. We'll need to come through it twice more in the next 6 weeks. Forgot about that.

So there you go. I've set the standard and your expectations on quality of diary entry, exotic location, and excitement levels. You get the drift...

Still, it's good to be en route.
