We have been in Australia for 2 weeks now and we are loving it. Sydney is amazing and so beautiful. It is so green and clean. Our first hostel was in the centre of town next to the botanical gardens. Even the wildlife in the city is cool and there are parrots, fruit bats and even a possum living in the park! One day we got a ferry to a beach called Manly and it was great fun, on the way back it was turning dark so we got some really cool pics of the harbour and the opera house. We had planned to climb the harbour bridge but we then found out it cost $200 which is about 80 pounds! So we didn't in the end!
After a couple of days in Sydney we caught an over night coach to Melbourne as we planned to move down there and find some work for a month. When we go there it was soooo cold, it was only 6 degrees and you can also go see penguins from Melbourne so it must be cold. It was a bit of a shock after being in warm Sydney. We stayed at a beach side resort called St Kilda about 30mins on the tram from the city centre. It was cool but there weren't a lot of jobs going and we were really surprised how small Melbourne felt. In the end we decided that we would be happier in Sydney and find a place and work up there till February so after a couple of days we hopped back on acoach and now we are back in Sydney!
Instead of living in the city centre we are living in Bondi which is just amazing! The beach really is as good as it's reputation states. We had a frantic couple of days looking for accomodation as hostels are now getting expensive because its now peak season. We finally found a place we are now renting which is a 5 minute walk from the beach so its great! We are signed up with a job agency in the city so we are now just waiting for the call to be told we have work!
We now plan to stay here until February so we will head into Sydney for new years and watch the fireworks from the gardens! It should be great! Xmas on the beach too...we are going to have to buy a BBQ and have shrimps! I don't think I'll be missing the turkey this year! After we are finished here in Sydney we plan to then pay to go on a tour of the east coast so we can fit as much in as possible before we leave. We really want to go to Fraser Island and Whitsunday Island. I really want to go Whale watching but we have just missed the season. Apparantly during June-Septmeber you can see Humpbacks from the clif tops here at Bondi...so jealous!
So basically it is really exciting at the moment and it is nice to settle somewhere for a while and not have to live out of my backpack! Plus it is ment to be one of the hottest summers in Oz history so looking forward to spending my weekends on the beach! Nick is going to learn to surf, I'm too scared and can't get the image of Jaws out of my head to face surfing!!!
