The day started with a 7am departure and a journey on a hot packsed bus with cheesy kareoke videos to Sihanoukville. The teeny hangover I had this morning potentially made this journey a whole lot worse. We arrived in Sihanoukville at lunch time. First impression were that it seemed like a nice chilled beachy place. The hotel was really chilled, and I could definately see us having some fun here. Tonight we had a seafood BBQ on the beach. It was delicious, the only problem was the constant begging from poor locals and lots of land mine victims. You really felt unsafe an were told to make sure we keep hold of our bags. Tonight we did some serious partying at JJ's (a bar on the beach front). We were drinking buckets (well half a coke bottle as a bucket) of whiskey and coke. I remember we had a good old boogie way into the night.
The next day we were going on a snorkelling day trip around the nearby islands. The day started with breakfast on the beach, this in itslef was an experience. I don't know if it was the hangover of what, but the sight of a begging mother and her two very young children eating our leftovers like dogs off the floor was enough to draw me to tears. Having said that the boat trip was amazing, we went ot three islands. The main island where we spent most of our time was called Bamboo island. We chilled there for a couple of hours. We had a BBQ for lunch on the stunning secluded beach and did a spot of snorkelling.
Our last evening in Sihanoukville was spent pretty much in a similar manner to the previous evening, although much more low key.
