The Dashing Diner
The War Remnats Museum is a must- a humbling experience - and photographs which tell a million stories.
The Requiem - famous photo of helmet, weapons against a tree- is extemely poignant as were many others. There was absolutely no need for American interference in Vietnam-my heart goes out to the USA soldiers drafted in and the people of Vietnam.A completely pointless war. What wars aren't?
You breath deeply and move onto the next vision of destruction.
Regardles of the history-the Vietnamese-being such a young generation hold no hate- they see their future with the aid of tourism being fruitful and exciting.
I have never seen such determination to succeed, industry and gentility. They have a National beauty which is a jewel to be treasured.
Went down the Mekong Delta- for two days-boat trips, bike riding through towns, visitations to rice mills, noodle making factories, pungent fish outles-rotting to make the famouse fish sauce and sugar -sweety stops.Ate snake in one place and sipped on some snake and scorpio wine - the snake tasted excellent disguised in a curry sauce and the wine was gagging material.Supposed to be an equivalent to Viagra-however suspect that Viagra would be a preferred choice.Plenty of Kodak moments- I hope with my millimetre of photographic skill I will capture some of the beauty -women in conical hats - they really do wear them in their hundreds-on the water,in the fields,in the towns-an essential addition to any attire.
Cookery course was a winner.Carmalised fish in clay pot, pork & shrimp salad,Snake head fish soup etc etc- hopefully I will be able to duplicate what I learned in class when back in Bar sur Loup- you can be the judges!
I am thinking of how lovely all my friends are at this moment and have a wee tear in my eye -I just want you all to come here- it is better than I ever dreamed
