Santillana is a proud little town of three cobbled stone streets, a collection of squares, and is one of the prettiest villages in Spain! It would be a wonderful place to settle in for a while and do day trips to the northern coastal towns of Spain. It is full of little hotels!

Guarding the main entrance to the Guggenheim is artist Jeff Koon's 42 ft tall West Highland Terrier they call "Puppy". It's 60,000 plants and flowers, which blossom in concert, grow through steel mesh. Although it was originally supposed to be temporary, the people of Bilbao fell in love with "Puppy" - so they bought it!!

The Atrium when you fist enter is increadable!! It is 60-m (165-ft) high and serves as an orientation point in the museum. All display rooms open to it, walkways span across it, and elevators
rise to its peak!

The Guggenheim Museum is the jewel in the city of Bilbao's crown. The building designed by American architect Frank Gehry is a mind-boggling array of limestone and 30,000 sheets of titanium. It seems to be inspired by a silvery fish...and also evokes images of wind-filled sails!! We spent the whole day there in awe of the building itself and the art work on display.
