Hey all. We are in Galveston, Texas just now which is about an hour south of Houston. We spent a couple of days in New Orleans which was well worth the trip. On the way in we saw some evidence of the devistation such as roofs blown off and there were loads of camper vans scattered about. Under the fly over there were literally hundereds of cars that had been abandoned and stripped completely of anything of any value. We spent all of our time in the French quarter though which was absolutely beautiful and with the exception of the posters and tshirts for sale you wouldnt know that anything had happened. Our hotel was lovely and everyone we met was really friendly. We had a good night out on Friday as well, some of the bars were a bit like being in Falaraki or somewhere as it was all cheesy music and drinks promos but there were some good live bands thrown in the mix as well. Anyway we had a really good time and I definately recommend a visit. We spent all day saturday on the bus to Houston and then arrived here yesterday dinner time. there is not much to do here but the hostel is alright and its right on the beach. Not sure of our plans after here. We are hoping to go and see my dads cousins some time soon as they live near Houston and then maybe on to Dallas and Austin. Anyway keep in touch. hx
