Didn't wake up til 10am! Walked to darling harbour and booked a trip to the zoo for tomorrow. Had a walk to Sydney bridge then onto opera house. Found a bar had some beers and an amazing burger : best I have ever had so delicious. Went to the opera house at 7pm to see "all you need is love " it was a tribute to the Beatles so an orchestra bang and singers did their stuff!! Was brilliant and so good to be inside the opera house. There was also such lovely view...

Woke early. Phoned home and spoke to Connor and Sam. Can't believe how far away we are. Wendi my friend from the UK arrived at 7am she is staying with us until 15th January. Left hotel at 9 went for breakfast then got a train and bus to bondi beach Lots of surfers on the beach. Waves were high and pure sand was so cool. Had a walk along to the next beach to gaerloch reserve it made me feel so young like a 20 year old surfer chick ! Sunshine and sea amazing. ...

Woke at 9am had a coffee in our room and left at 10.15 The aim was to find a bar by 11am which was midnight at home in the uk so we could celebrate it drinking a glass of fizz or two. But it was difficult finding a place open. As we walked along saw the sign saying 2016 so had our picture taken and sent it to the kids and posted on face book. Arrived in Sydney at 12.15. Always a worry waiting for our bags but they all came through which was a relief. Jumped in a taxi which took 20 minutes to our hotel costing 42 dollars ! The hotel we stayed in was like a throw back from the 70's ; but it's a bed and a shower at the end of the day ! We dumped off our bags and had a well needed shower the headed out. Today we left our four wonderful children and two gorgeous grandchildren to follow our dreams on an adventure of a life time. We left Heathrow at 20.30 flew to Doha (6.45 duration ) then into Hong Kong ( 7.40) then to syndney ( 9.20) arriving in Sydney on New Year's Eve Thursday 31st December at midday. The flights went really smoothly along with all the transfers. Watched some good films along the way.
