Woke up this morning to find a cockatoo on the balcony. Managed to get a photo. Final preparations for the boat today. Got butterflies in my tummy! I Am sure it will go once we get going.
It's also going to be hard not talking to the children or my mum and family for the next 4 weeks.
Went to the boat for briefings and had to through immigrant which was basically two boarder control staff checking us and our passports.
Went over watches and bunk allocation. We are running a three watch system where as other boats are two watch. Be interesting to see how we get on.
Basically on our team we are on watch for four hours then we spilt into 2 and half goes to bed for 8 hours (off watch) and the other half are on stand by/ mother watch for four hours. Then the stands by go off for four hours then it starts again.
We went for a crew briefing for all teams and they covered safety, the course, weather, wind and pirates!
Apparently we are at low risk of pirates but have to cover it!
If they come on board just give them what they want and they will go!
They showed us
Video and photos from the last leg and the best win a prize.
They also covered the charity side as unicef is the children's charity we are raising money for. I have a just giving page if you want to donate. Go on line to donate.
Finally they wished us
Safe and speedy sail
Went for dinner (final one on dry land ! )
