Day 3
We set our alarm to wake up at 8.15am and got ready to go to KL Tower (Menara Tower). This tower is 421m high with an observation deck of 276m.Today was clear blue sky and was a good day to go up the KL Tower.
We were recommended by the hostel reception person to go to 'Hameeds' restaurant for breakfast which was around the corner from our hostel.Helen had a banana roti and Jay had a chicken roti, we both enjoyed it and they were very tasty.
After breakfast we took the monorail to KL Tower, when we got off the monorail, we got lost trying to find the entrance of the tower. We found 2 German lads (Tomsk and Julian) following us thinking we knew where we were going (even though they had a map) but we were lost! So all 4 of us decided to get a taxi to KL Tower. Once we got to KL Tower, the views were amazing and was worth the effort.
After KL Tower, we went to explore the shopping mall, 'Lot 10' - we found it to be too 'European' apart from the cool Jackie Chan cafe with comfortable sofa seats and extortionate priced coffees and cocktails. We left the shopping centre to walk to 'Jalan Alor' street (famous hawker street). We walked along the street a bit further down to look for Jay's old hostel that he stayed at 5 years ago, we found it was no longer there. We then stopped off 'Dragon View' for some shade and a drink, Helen had lychee ice juice and Jay had a bottle of Skol.
We then walked back to the shopping malls, Helen spotted a pastry stall and treated herself to a curry bun, this was delicious. We got recommended to go to the Pavilion Mall where Jay bought a pair of funky havaianas flip flops, they were green and purple. After this we walked back to Jalan Alor to try some durian (asian fruit). Helen liked it and Jay developed a taste for it. After this we wandered around and came across so many shopping centres, restaurants and bars, KL is full of them- it truly is a shoppers and food lovers paradise!
We had dinner at a hawker stall back at Jalan Alor, we used Mary and Dan's spare cash, we had sesame honey ribs along with Jalan Alor's famous satay chicken.Jay had a tiger beer to drink and Helen had fresh starfruit juice. The food was so delicious, we were spoilt for choice. It was such a busy restaurant and such good value for money, there were a mix of locals and tourists eating there.
After dinner we went to the Petronas Towers to take pictures of them at night. They were even more beautiful lit up! We then headed back to our hostel to chill out.
