Hey Everybody! This city is the most beautiful and vibrant so far. There are three ways to reach Santorini from the tender port. Either ride donkeys up to the city, walk 45 minutes up millions of steps or cable car. Which did you think I used? So, on my first trip out I did laundry at a laundromat. I refuse to wash underwear and hang them in the shower for everyone to view, touch, maybe even sniff. Spent about a hour or so in the laundromat. The woman has a booming business. She's the only laundromat in the area nearest the ship and she also has these huge lockers, where people store their luggage until departure to their flights. She also let me use my own detergent and bleach. The natives don;t usually use bleach. As I noticed, all the white (supposed to be) laundry she was doing (drop off service) was dingy. She was even laundering, what looked like a restaurants aprons and tablecloths. They looked awful. I didn't want to eat at that restaurant. She dryed and folder them neatly and placed about twenty-five in each bag. She even ironed clothes, no creases of course. Anyway, bleach had leaked in the ziploc bag and messed up my dryer sheets, but she had fabric softener, which really smelled good, though I don't care for smells in my clothes. Anyway, I got back to the ship, dropped off my laundry and picked up my dead weight (roommate). We made it to the bus station to catch a bus to Oia to do some swimming. Upon arrival, we were told that this was the best swimming on the island, but we had to go down approximately 250 steps to get to it. Marcella said she knew that she couldn't make it. So we looked in some of the shops around and made our way to the bus stop to try to make it to Kamari Beach. The sun was going down, but the black sand was beautiful. The beach was made of many pebbles and I forgot my beach shoes on the ship. Anyway, the sand was still very warm from the sun. We swam a while, packed up to take the bus back to the city. I wanted to do a little shopping on my own and use the internet, so Marcella afforded me some me time. I made sure I led her back close to the cable car, so she could catch it on her own. I did some shopping and played on the internet a while. Got on the 10:00 cable car. But it didn't take off until 10:15 P.M. When I got down there, along with several other people. I didn't realize they were waiting on all of us. The ship didn't leave until 11 P.M. and we arrived at the tender port at 10:30. Marcella had told me when I got to our cabin, that they had called her asking if I was on board yet. She said I scared her. Anyway, this is city I would like to return to.
