Left the hotel and taxi to Paris Orly airport, flight slight delay but boarded once again up front and first on. We flew over the Alps to Milan. I then got a taxi to Napoli train station to board the Frecciarossa to Rome. I had to get my eurail pass validated but there were lots of people waiting and a very rude ticket seller told me I had to wait at the end. I explained I would miss my train but she insisted. I asked if I could just get on the train and she yelled no I must get validation or I could not board the train. Somebody was obviously having a bad day and it wasn't me. So I thought b***** that and set off to the train. I boarded and sat in my assigned seat - beautiful leather seat, comfy and cool. Nobody challenged me about my ticket. The train left the station and I looked at my eurail pass and in the box where they had to validate I "signed" it with a squiggle. When the conductor checked it he asked did I get it validated at Milan. I said yes, they checked my passport signed it and gave it back. All good, no issues and he was happy to punch my ticket. Disaster averted! The Frecciarossa trains are very fast and do 300 kms per hour but the ride is very smooth and comfortable. I arrived in Rome, caught the metro 2 stops and found my hotel near the Trevi fountain. Beautiful room with all amenities being new, I am looking out my shuttered window onto an alley with restaurants below. I freshened up and went for a walk then dinner. Once again incredible food and nice staff. Old man playing accordion was delightful. I had prosciutto and melon (again) followed by calamari and salad. It was the most tender calamari I have ever had. Delicious. Long day travelling so bed and sleep.
