At the SAHARA Women's and Children's Home, another place we visited this week, women who are recovering from drug or alcohol addictions or who have been commercial sex workers can stay (usually for 6 months) while receiving counseling and being taught skills they can take with them when they leave. Card making, jewelry making, and sewing are some of the skills they are taught.
